The phylogenetic relationship demonstrates that both bovine and porcine 12/15-LO is more related to the human enzyme than the rabbit enzyme, despite the fact that the rabbit reticulocyte enzyme is a 15-lipoxygenase. The rabbit is one single species that expresses a 12/15 LO with 15-LO activity while

  2024-01-24

GABAB receptor is associated with brain metabolism and behavioral diseases, including epilepsy, spasticity, anxiety and neuropathic pain (Bettler et al., 2004, Bowery et al., 2002, Froestl, 2010). Baclofen, a clinical drug and selective GABAB receptor agonist, is used to treat muscle spasticity in

Another heroic set of studies combining retrodialysis with electrophysiological recording at two distinct brain sites further indicated that the estradiol-induced increase in auditory-evoked firing in NCM also enhanced the selectivity of auditory-evoked responses in the downstream sensorimotor nucle

Results Discussion AP-1, a heterodimeric transcription factor comprising various combinations of FOS, JUN, MAF, ATF, and CREB family proteins, has been known to play a pivotal role in leukocyte development for decades (Liebermann et al., 1998; Valledor et al., 1998). However, its participation

In a human intervention study, blood GSH levels were evaluated over 6 wk in 18 male participants subjected to strenuous aerobic training and a dietary supplement of 1 g of WPI/kg of body mass per day. Blood GSH levels were significantly lower in those subjects who performed exercise that those who d

These experiments make it clear that one can study the effect of antimalaria drugs that target the DHFR enzyme of P. falciparum by transferring the malaria enzyme into S. cerevisiae. The ease of growth and manipulation of the yeast make it easy to measure the sensitivity of any particular dhfr allel

Hyperactivity of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which is well described in MDD (Pariante and Lightman, 2008, Marques et al., 2009), is also observed in AD and results in increased glucocorticoid (GC, cortisol in primates) levels in blood and CSF (Davis et al., 1986, Martignoni et al.

  2024-01-24

Detailed analysis of the dose dependence of Aβ effects revealed that at low amounts, Aβ can also act as a positive regulator of presynaptic activity, enhancing the neurotransmitter release probability and increasing the neuronal excitability [2]. The facilitator effects of low Aβ dose on excitatory
