Here, we have used transcriptome analysis of primary neonatal rat cardiomyocytes treated with either the ETR agonist endothelin-1 or the α1-AR agonist phenylephrine to assess differences in their respective signalling networks, and further probed these differences using a panel of fluorescent resona

In conclusion, the results of this investigation suggest that the involvement of PGE2 in the pathogenesis of pulpal inflammation and repair may be related to its induction of cAMP production. PGE2-induced cAMP production in dental pulp cells is mediated by binding to the EP2 receptor, activation of

As summarized in Fig. 1, autophagy up-regulation in terms of Beclin 1 induction, increase of LC3 II and p62 down-regulation were observed between 24 and 72 h of cell incubation, this coinciding with the end of the period 27-OH caused slight reduction of cell viability and proliferation as previously

  2023-09-18

Autophagy in the central nervous system The autophagic process appears to be very important for the cells of the central nervous system, as it allows to maintain the functional integrity of the nervous tissue. Indeed macroautophagy is involved in the regulation of homeostasis of the CNS, playing

Inactivation of the proton pump comes with luminal alkalinization of the targeted vesicles such as lysosomes (Fig. 2b). Lysosome pH can also be raised stoichiometrically by addition of a membrane-permeable weak iso 1 such as methylamine or chloroquine which accumulates in its protonated, non-membra

  2023-09-18

From an historical perspective, ligands for GPCRs (adrenaline, serotonin, methylphenol synthesis or morphine, to name a few) have been identified before their receptor counterparts, at a time when the concept of receptor itself was controversial [15]. Although many cognate receptors for endogenous l

Secreted enzymes Only two secreted S. aureus enzymes reportedly induce apoptosis, namely, staphylococcal staphopain B (SspB) and coagulase. SspB selectively cleaved CD11b/CD18 integrin and induced an apoptosis-like cell death in neutrophils and monocytes (Smagur et al., 2009). Neutrophils or mono

On the other hand, oxygen concentration in tumor tissue also depends on its consumption rate by tumor cells, which decrease will also lead to alleviation of hypoxia. The importance of insulin in controlling lipolysis and fat mass is further emphasized by mouse models with alterations in the insulin signaling pathway of adipocytes. For example, mice with a tamoxifen-inducible knockout of the insulin receptor in mature adipocytes reveal a substantial decrease of a

As we previously observed in the NSFT (Fukumoto et al., 2014), the effect of LY341495 in the FST was also inhibited by a 5-HT1A receptor antagonist, indicating the role of the 5-HT1A receptor in the actions of LY341495. Among the 5-HT1A receptors, which exist both presynaptically and postsynapticall
